Florida Spring Training: Your Guide To Touring The Grapefruit League |
Sleep in a little and enjoy breakfast at the Perkins near the hotel, but make sure you leave enough time for traffic. Tampa is one of the most congested cities in Florida. If this is a workday, you’re going to get into a traffic jam. Allow about 30 minutes to get from the hotel to the ballpark.
Plan on arriving at Legends Field around 10:30 a.m. to watch the Yankees on the practice field and claim a spot to get an autograph; it’s no easy task here. After practice is over, enter the stadium, watch the game, and enjoy the food. The game will end around 5:00 p.m. You should be hungry again by this time. Stop at one of the restaurants along Dale Mabry. If you want something really fancy, go to Bern’s Steakhouse. It will cost you a couple hundred dollars for two people with drinks and dessert, but the steaks are fantastic. Non-meat eaters and the more adventuresome may prefer Bern’s sister restaurant, Sidebern’s. Instead of heading back to the hotel after dinner, plan on some evening entertainment. Go east on I-275 to I-4, then east (towards Orlando) on I-4. You can go to Ybor City, where there is a Sega GameWorks, a large movie complex, and plenty of clubs, or you can keep on going to the Seminole Casino Tampa. They have bingo, slots, and low-stakes poker. Either one is a fun option. Continue Reading Itinerary One Didn't find what you were looking for? Try a Google search.
