Florida Spring Training: Your Guide To Touring The Grapefruit League |
Whenever a new Grapefruit League stadium opens, the autograph opportunities seem to disappear. That isn’t the case at this stadium. In fact, the autograph opportunities are actually better at Bright House Networks Field than they were at the old Jack Russell Stadium. While it’s not the easiest place to get autographs, it offers better than average opportunities to get your favorite Philly’s signature.
The best place to get autographs is at the far corner of the Picnic 1 section. This area offers players who stop to sign some protection from flying baseballs, a key to getting them to stay awhile. Every Philly, as he walks back to the clubhouse, must pass this corner. Of course some players, like star Pat Burrell, sprint past to avoid autograph seekers, but then some players go out of their way to avoid signing no matter what park they are in. Another good area is the wall between the dugout and the end of the first base line. Players walk the wall and are often willing to come over and sign for fans who wait there. For visitors’ autographs, hang out on either side of the dugout and hope. Visiting players can leave the field through the dugout, so it’s easy for them to avoid fans.
