Florida Spring Training: Your Guide To Touring The Grapefruit League |
Legends Field is not designed to be autograph friendly. In most stadiums, the best place to get an autograph is between the dugout and the end of the stadium. You will not be able to get into this area at Legend’s Field unless you have a ticket for a lower reserved seat because the ushers guard every aisle and will not let you down. The only way you’re going to get an autograph here is to wait by the practice field.
To get to the field, go to the ticket window and look to your right (as you face the window). You will see a walkway leading to the parking bridge. Next to the walkway is a grassy area that borders the practice fields. An eight-foot fence that players must walk by to get to the stadium surrounds the grassy area. Occasionally players will sign items that you toss to them over the fence. Call to them first to ask. Then if they OK it, toss your item over and they will sign it and toss it back. Just don’t expect to get a star to sign. The Yankees stars are as big a draw as the Beatles and rarely take the time to sign autographs. They would get swamped. An even better vantage point, though it can get crowded, is the two bleachers overlooking the practice fields. To get to them, head toward the outside bathrooms and look for the walkway that leads to the bleachers. (It’s easy to miss because landscaping hides the bleachers from most people.) Standing in the bleachers, you can get close to most of the superstars. If you’re very lucky, you may get an autograph or two. Jason Giambi stood there for quite a while signing autographs over the fence the last time I was there. Didn't find what you were looking for? Try a Google search.
