Orlando's not a one-mouse town and this is the site that proves it! |
Another nifty addition is terrace level seating, complete with picnic tables on tiers where you can sit and watch the game. You have to buy a special ticket to sit at the tables, but you can walk through them from the grandstands to get autographs.
Be warned, however, you can’t get from the grandstands to the berm and bleachers if the game is sold out. Those areas require a separate ticket and are reached through a separate entrance. New concession stands round out the improvements. They serve a variety of tasty food, including a knish. As in the past, Tradition Field is still the most entertaining ballpark in the Grapefruit League outside of Disney’s Cracker Jack Stadium. There is a contest before almost every inning and they blast music every time a Met comes to bat. The stadium also offers a great balance of sun and shade. When you go to Tradition Field, expect to feel like you are in Queens or Brooklyn. Almost everyone at the stadium speaks with a thick New York accent. They are fanatical about their team and their hatred for the Yankees. Do not show up in pin stripes, you will probably get beat up. Of course, love or hate New York teams, you have to respect their fans. They are some of the most knowledgeable anywhere. They can tell you about every prospect, every statistic, and why their team either will be very bad or will win the World Series this year. There is no in between.
