Orlando's not a one-mouse town and this is the site that proves it! |
The minor league team that plays in Bill Hammond Stadium during the summer season is tied to Bill Veeck, the 1970’s innovator who created many of the promotions and fan contests that have become staples in today’s baseball. So it’s no surprise that the stadium’s operators go heavy on them. Nearly every Spring Training game offers a special promotion of some kind and nearly every inning features some sort of fan contest, with the contestants randomly picked through a drawing of seat numbers. I went on t-shirt day and got a free t-shirt. The most entertaining contest I saw was one in which two fans were dressed up in sumo wrestler outfits and had it out on the field.
