Florida Marlins / St. Louis Cardinals: Tickets

The fact that the Cardinals and Marlins share the stadium is a bonus when targeting a game in Jupiter. It means there are only one or two days in March in which there is no baseball at the stadium. Just how easy you will find it to get seats to the game of your choice will depend on which team is playing, and who they’re playing.

The Marlins and Cardinals not only share the stadium but play a number of their games against each other. There’s a Cardinals vs. Marlins game at least once a week and sometimes twice. Because there are so many match-ups between the teams, you have an excellent chance of picking up good tickets on Cardinals vs. Marlins game days.

Just the opposite is true, of course, when either team plays a top-tier opponent. But that’s not often. During the 2004 season, the Red Sox played one game in Roger Dean Stadium and the Braves played two. Predictably, the Marlins vs. Red Sox game was the hottest ticket of the Marlins’ season. You will likely find tickets available for Marlins games with lesser opponents because the team practices in its home territory.

Getting tickets to Cardinals games is harder. If you want to see the Cardinals play anybody but the Marlins, you need to buy your tickets early, especially if they are playing a marquee team. The Cardinals seem to have one of the larger followings of fans, specifically fans who like to travel. On average, there were fewer than 1,000 tickets left by the day of the game — a bad omen for fans who like to wait until the last moment to buy tickets.

If you do come up short for a game at Roger Dean Stadium, you can buy a berm ticket or a standing room ticket, both of which are available only on the day of the game. Standing is not a bad option, as there are plenty of vantage points from which you can enjoy the game. It’s just going to make you tired. The berm is actually a pretty good place to watch a game. It turns toward the right field line and situates you so that you are looking straight at home plate.

Note: There’s an added plus for berm ticketholders. The bullpen is directly in front of the berm. All the home team’s pitchers sit against the berm’s front wall and chat with the fans during the game. However, you must have a berm ticket to go on the berm.
