Orlando's not a one-mouse town and this is the site that proves it! |
Let’s say you decide to skip the ice cream and go right to your seats, which are throwbacks to older days when seats were still wide and made of wood. After sitting a minute or two, you want a drink and a hot dog. In most stadiums, you’d head back down to the main concourse, but not at Chain of Lakes Park. Here, those concession booths are sitting at the top of the stands, literally five feet behind the last row. It’s a very different setup from what most of us are used to, but at least you don’t miss a minute of the action when you get the urge for a hot dog in mid game.
One of the great pluses of Chain of Lakes Park is that it is a fantastic place to catch a home run ball during batting practice and during the game. The ballpark has an extensive outfield section where people hang out with their gloves in tow. There is some bleacher seating on top of a hill behind left field, but most people use this section to lie on blankets or play catch with their kids. To get to the outfield section, buy a ticket to either the outfield bleacher or “lawn seating” sections. If your seats are anywhere else in the park, you can get into the outfield bleacher and berm areas by exiting the main entrance and going around the visiting team’s buses and clubhouse into the main parking lot. Make sure you get your hand stamped so that you can get back into the stadium easily. Whether you’re watching from the outfield berm or from a seat behind home plate, at Chain of Lakes Park you’re going to be treated to an old-time feel of Spring Training, the way it was played for years. Whether that’s a good or a bad thing is up to you. Didn't find what you were looking for? Try a Google search.
