Florida Spring Training: Your Guide To Touring The Grapefruit League |
You’ll have a fairly easy time getting tickets for most games as the stadium averages just over 60 percent full. But as with other Spring Training ballparks, how far ahead you have to buy to be assured of a seat depends on what team the Reds are playing. If you’re looking to see the Yankees or the Red Sox play in Sarasota, especially if those teams are coming only once during the spring, get your tickets early because the game will probably sell out.
On the flip side, if you’re going to see the Reds when the Pirates are in town, you’ll have no trouble getting tickets on the day of the game. That’s because the Pirates play here several times a season and McKechnie Field, their Spring Training site in Bradenton, is only twenty to thirty minutes north of Ed Smith Stadium. The best thing about Sarasota’s ballpark is the price. Ed Smith’s top ticket, the box seat, is just about as inexpensive as they come. In fact, only Bradenton’s stadium up the road offers a cheaper top ticket. Moreover, Ed Smith’s general admission ticket is the lowest in Florida; there just aren’t a lot of them to be had. Capacity: 7,500 Average Attendance: 5,276 Ticket Prices: Box Seat $14 Reserved Seats $12 General Admisson $7 Standing Room (if available) $5 For Tickets: 941-954-4464 Didn't find what you were looking for?
