Orlando's not a one-mouse town and this is the site that proves it!
Cincinnati Reds: Introduction

There are bleachers here, but not a lot. There is shade, but, again, not a lot. And there is little entertainment. In fact, at the game I attended the fans’ excitement peaked when two Hooters waitresses passed out coupons for free chicken wings after the game. They couldn’t give them out fast enough.

On the positive side, you’ll have no trouble seeing all the action. The box seats are close to the diamond and the other seats aren’t too far away. Better yet, there are a couple of offerings here you don’t want to miss. The park does not rent seat cushions, but will allow you to bring your own. It’s an excellent idea to bring cushions if you have them and it makes me wonder why more parks don’t rent them.

The other don’t-miss item is the food. In addition to the Cincinnati Reds’ signature food item, the Big Red Smokey, you’ll also find the Goetta Dog (promounced “getta”). With peppers and onions, it’s another Cincy favorite.

Independent concessionaires, who vary from year to year, sell specialties like hot roast beef sandwiches, smoked rib tips, or the “Home Wrecker,” a monster hot dog with onions and peppers. It’s hard to figure which to recommend. I’d suggest going with a friends, ordering a representative sample, and sharing.

You’ll find an imported beer stand on each side of the stadium, where you can pick up an ice-cold import served in a plastic bottle.

Many baseball fans will travel to this stadium for the chance to meet Ken Griffey Jr. Don’t get your hopes up. You will be able to see the superstar, but you won’t get close to him, thanks to one of the only unusual design facets of Ed Smith Stadium. While the players have to walk by the stands to get to the clubhouse, which is usually a good omen for autograph seekers, the door to the Reds’ clubhouse is about 30 feet away from the stands. As Spring Training fans know, the players on most teams walk only as close to the stands as they have too. Here they don’t have to walk close and can easily ignore fans’ pleas for autographs. It’s well known that Griffey won’t come over at any point during the spring season.

In fact, there is really no good place to meet the players at Ed Smith Stadium. Well, maybe in the parking lot.
