Florida Spring Training: Your Guide To Touring The Grapefruit League |
If you’re an Orioles fan, you should buy a program. If not, don’t bother. The Orioles program is actually a Spring Training version of the Orioles newspaper, “Outside Pitch.” It has little coverage of Spring Training other than a story on the team’s season outlook and an insert with the team’s roster and invitees — which is not updated as Spring Training progresses. The program has an alphabetical roster, but not a numerical one, and there are no individual pictures of the players. So during pre-game warm-ups, it’s hard to use the program to identify players. To make things worse, the program is on newsprint. On a hot, sweaty day, expect your fingers to be black after reading through it. Perhaps the newsprint is an intentional follow through on the antique feel of the park. Finally, the program carries advertisements from Baltimore, not Fort Lauderdale. The only local information — and there isn’t much — is on a four-page insert, which includes a scorecard. Cost: Program plus scorecard $4, Scorecard alone $1 Didn't find what you were looking for?
