Florida Spring Training: Your Guide To Touring The Grapefruit League |
Your chances of getting an autograph depend on where you’re sitting and how early you come. Because the players enter and exit the field through the dugout here, it’s tough to get autographs after batting practice. So come early for batting practice if you want an autograph. The gates open two hours before gametime.
If you’re seated in the main seating bowl (boxes or reserved grandstand), you’ll have to get autographs right by the dugout. While the area is small, players are close enough to the stands here that they are quick to come over to sign. There is one roadblock. The owner’s box is closest to the dugout and the guard will not let you in there; so you just have to get as close as you can. If you are sitting in the right field bleachers, you can sometimes pick up an autograph at the infield corner of the fence. While many of the stars will not come over, you will get some players. If you are in the left field bleachers, you can forget about getting any Orioles’ autographs. You’ll be nowhere near them (they work out on the right field side) and the stadium’s design prevents you from walking over to the grandstands or the right field bleachers. You can also stand next to the chain link fence surrounding the players’ parking lot. It’s guarded and you can’t get in. But some players will come over if you call to them by name, and others will stop to sign in their cars. Didn't find what you were looking for? Try a Google search.
