You enter the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex through a Ticket Plaza that is themed to evoke the International Space Station. The ticket booths take the form of space station modules, while the overhead shading is provided by large solar panels. A few space-walking astronauts float above, adding to the effect. There are about 20 ticket windows, with the Will Call windows located to your far left as you approach the Ticket Plaza.
Kennedy Space Center offers a number of admission options, which can be moderately confusing. I’ll try to sort through them. Prices, before tax, are as follows:
Standard Admission:
Adults: $31
Children (3 to 11): $21
This is a one-day admission ticket that includes access to all the exhibits at the Visitor Complex, the main Kennedy Space Center bus tour, and admission to the IMAX films.
Maximum Access Admission:
Adults: $38
Children (3 to 11): $28
This option adds admission to the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame and its simulator rides (described in Chapter 11: Another Roadside Attraction). It also adds a second day of admission to the Visitors Complex and the IMAX films.
Combo Pass:
Adults: $55.99
Children (3 to 11): $39.99
This package includes the Maximum Access option and one of the special interest tours, Cape Canaveral Then & Now or NASA Up Close, both described laterr.
Specialty Tour Tickets:
Adults: $22
Children (3 to 11): $16
These prices are per tour. In other words, if you are an adult and want to take both tours, it will set you back $44 (unless you opted for the Combo Pass, in which case one tour is already paid for). These prices are in addition to the cost of regular admission. In other words, you can’t show up just to take one of these tours.
