Kennedy Space Center - The IMAX Theater Exhibits

Rating: * * +
Type: Various displays
Time: Continuous viewing
Kelly says: If you have the time

A number of exhibits and displays are scattered about the large building that houses the IMAX film theaters (see below). If you have a few moments to spare before or after the show — or have ducked inside to escape a rain shower — you might want to take a quick look around.

At one end of the building is an art gallery featuring works commissioned by NASA to commemorate the space program. They range from hyperrealism to the surreal to the completely abstract and are worth at least a quick look. At the other end is a space used for temporary or traveling displays; these can range from the excellent to the merely interesting. In a passage between the two theaters you will find a small display explaining the process whereby shuttles are prepared, launched, retrieved, and prepped yet again for flight.
