Orlando's not a one-mouse town and this is the site that proves it! |
Rating: * * * * + If shots of the astronauts and the Space Shuttle in orbit look nifty in IMAX, wait until you see them in IMAX 3-D. The 3-D is far more than a mere gimmick in this enthralling film about the International Space Station. The sequences featuring the launches of the Russian Soyuz and the U.S. Shuttle, with debris and smoke rushing toward you at dizzying speed as the powerful sound system makes your seat vibrate, are incredible, but they are just a warm up for the shots in space. There are some jaw-dropping, vertigo-inducing shots of astronauts working outside the space station while earth drifts serenely by 250 miles below. And there are plenty of shots of the astronauts taking care of business and just horsing around in the zero-G interior of their orbiting home. Watch out for those free-floating oranges! Magnificent Desolaton is a wonderful film, but if you have time to see only one of the IMAX movies make it this one. Didn't find what you were looking for? Try a Google search.
