Type: Musical Passion drama
Time: 20 minutes
Kelly says: Moving and dramatic
This musical dramatization of the crucifixion is the centerpiece of the live performances at the park. Roman soldiers announce that they are executing Jesus for treason against the Rome, and lead him through the crowd to the cross on Calvary Hill above the Garden Tomb. The entire event is presented in graphic, even gory detail, and parents with young children may want to beware. The cast, Holy Land’s “CENTURY” ensemble, performs with obvious emotion and commitment befitting the subject.
The show features a number of songs, including “Alive” and “Via Dolorosa,” delivered by talented singers in an inoffensive Andrew Lloyd Webber-ish pop-Broadway style. A film of the production is available for purchase on video and DVD in the Shofar Shop near the Jerusalem model.
