What better way to commemorate your visit to Gatorland than with a photo of yourself with a real, live alligator. No, you don’t get a chance to pose with any of the 12-foot whoppers you saw in the pool, but you can have your picture taken while holding a small gator whose jaws have thoughtfully been taped shut. If gators aren’t your cup of tea, you can also have a boa constrictor draped decoratively over your shoulders. Photo prices start at $10.95 for prints, and $14.95 for T-shirts. The stand can be found right next to the Gator Jumparoo arena.
In Alligator Alley, you may find an outdoor stand that offers a variety of paintings, both complete and completed on-the-spot. The watercolors painted on-demand that feature a child’s name done in flowers, bugs, fish and other figures seemed to be popular with shoppers. Listed price for this service was $2 per letter plus $3 for the painting to be rolled and packed in a tube, or $8 for a matte board frame. The stand appears to offer frequent specials, however, so you may get a better deal on the day of your visit.
But the real shopper’s paradise is the gift shop through which you stroll on your way out of the park. For such a modest park, Gatorland has a surprisingly upscale gift shop, with an extensive range of alligator skin products. The price tags are truly heart-stopping but if you’ve done any comparison shopping you will realize there are some real bargains to be had here, from gorgeous boots for men to purses for women to wallets and belts for everyone.
In addition to the pricier items, the gift shop carries a full assortment of standard tourist souvenirs, from mugs and refrigerator magnets to alligator claw backscratchers and games for kids. There’s lots to see here and you can always return to shop another day without paying admission to the park.
