Near the Gator Jumparoo platform is a stand selling five turkey hot dogs for $2.50 (with discounts available for those who prefer to buy in bulk) to those who’d like to feed a gator. Don’t expect to be able to dangle your hand down like the gator wrangler in the Jumparoo show. The trick to feeding gators is to loft your hot dog gently so it lands to either side of the gator’s head. They can’t see directly in front. Many of the dogs wind up in the beaks of the ugly wood storks that patrol this area. Resist the temptation to hand feed these scavengers; their beaks can draw blood.
Tip: Take your hot dogs over to the Alligator Breeding Marsh and feed the gators from the Observation Tower. The gators over here are not as well-fed as those in the Giant Gator Lake and will show more interest in your free handouts.
