Most shopping is concentrated along the corridor leading to the convention center. Alta Moda concentrates on upscale women’s clothing with a continental flair. This, by the way, is the same Alta Moda that has an outpost at Universal Orlando’s Portofino Bay Hotel. The Eagle’s Nest is the hotel’s gift and sundries shop. Most of it is given over to inexpensive t-shirts, polos, and sweats for men, women, and especially kids. There are plenty of kids’ toys and beach gear as well. In addition to a small selection of magazines and trashy novels, there is an eclectic selection of gifts and bric a brac.
John Craig Fine Menswear offers resort styles for today’s metrosexual. In addition to Craig’s own brand, the shop offers clothing from other upscale boutique designers like Ike Beha and Robert Graham. It’s mostly shirts and slacks, but if you find yourself in need of a chic sports jacket, this shop can fix you up. The Gallery is a vest-pocket art emporium specializing in bright, gaudy paintings, many with a tropical theme, colorful figurines, and jewelry.
Over at the golf course clubhouse, the 1,600 square foot Pro Shop is an extremely well stocked emporium of upscale golf togs for men and women, including golf shoes. They also offer club sales and rentals as well as other golfing necessities. Here, too, you can pick up a copy of the historical novel, A Land Remembered, which inspired the restaurant of the same name and which has many other echoes throughout the resort. The Spa has a small selection of fancy cosmetics, mostly for women, along with some cute t-shirts and gift items, also mostly for women.
