Resort Hotels - Other Choices Near the Parks, Pt. 1

If the resort hotels covered so far are a little rich for your blood (and they frequently are for mine!), you will be pleased to know that a number of more moderate choices are available quite close to SeaWorld and its sister parks. An added benefit is that all of the choices here are within walking distance of SeaWorld and I have listed them in order of proximity.

Hilton Garden Inn
6850 Westwood Boulevard
Orlando, FL 32821
(877) 782-9444; (407) 354-1500; fax (407) 354-1528

A mid-scale hotel with an accent on the business traveler, this 223-room property features seven suites and walk-to-the-park convenience. One of its neatest features is the ability to print from your laptop in the room and pick up your pages at the business center.

Price Range: $$ - $$$

Amenities: Heated pool, jacuzzi, kids’ play area, fitness room, restaurant, lounge, evening room service, on-site convenience store, complimentary 24-hour business center, free high-speed Internet access

Walk to Park: 10 minutes

International Plaza Resort and Spa
10100 International Drive
Orlando, FL 32821-8095
(800) 327-0363; (407) 352-1100

This refurbished hotel is the only one in this section that falls into the “resort” category. A 17-story tower is surrounded by 19 two-story buildings spread out over 28 acres. There is a “SeaWorld Gate” at the rear of the property. It opens at 8:00 a.m. and closes an hour after the park does. This is also the closest hotel to Aquatica and walking there is very doable. Despite the address, the main entrance is on Westwood Boulevard.

Price Range: $$ - $$$$

Amenities: Three heated pools, two kiddie pools, putting green, fitness center, spa, restaurant, lounge, poolside bar

Walk to Park: 10 minutes

Note: Walking distance to SeaWorld from the following hotels was calculated using an unnamed service road that runs alongside the International Plaza Resort property and connects Westwood Boulevard and Sea Harbor Drive. From Sea Harbor Drive, the route then cuts diagonally across the SeaWorld parking lot.

Sleep Inn
6301 Westwood Boulevard
Orlando, FL 32821
(877) 424-6423; (407) 313-4100; fax (407) 313-4101

This is a clean, four-story, budget motel with a glacially slow elevator. It has a 100% non-smoking policy. The Village Inn is on one side and the “undiscovered” Persian restaurant, Shiraz Grill, is on the other.

Price Range: $ - $$

Amenities: Small pool, breakfast buffet, 3 channels of HBO plus Showtime, tiny guest laundry.

Walk to Park: 12 to 15 minutes
