Resort Hotels: Shingle Creek - Orientation

Rosen Shingle Creek is massive. There are 1,500 rooms and suites in the hotel and 445,000 square feet of meeting and event space in the vast convention center next door, all of it nestled with an 18-hole golf course on 230 acres just a stone’s throw from the even more massive Orlando Convention Center.

The hotel’s design might be described as 1900s Spanish Revival on steroids. You arrive at a large portico on the so-called Lobby Level, the hotel’s second floor. Inside the doors is a lobby that seems to go on forever. Towards the rear of the hotel, past a Victorian bird cage filled with zebra finches, the lobby soars to wooden beams overhead and overlooks the Cafe Osceola below with views through ceiling-high windows to the expansive pool area.

On the Lobby Level you will find the posh Cala Bella restaurant and a wide corridor to the right heading to the convention center, along which are more dining and shopping options. Still more dining is on the Lower Lobby level, along with the fitness center. The golf clubhouse and another upscale restaurant are reached via a covered walkway that begins at the entrance portico. Upstairs, the corridors stretch far from the elevator banks, so if you are averse to long walks to and from your room, ask for a room near the elevators.
