Grande Vista is conveniently located off International Drive, less than a mile south of the trio of SeaWorld parks. Turning off I-Drive onto Avenida Vista, you approach the resort up a broad avenue lined with magnolia trees that are spectacular when they are abloom with white blossoms. Stop at the gatehouse and you will be directed to reception in the Village Center building. Once checked in, you will use your room key to open the gates.
There are 900 units in 24 buildings artfully arranged around a long narrow lake that is crossed by a lovely white pedestrian bridge and punctuated with a decorative fountain that sends a spray of water high into the air. The earthy pastels and architectural touches evoke the look and feel of old St. Augustine. The buildings, with their exterior corridors, present a rather anonymous, windowless face to the public streets, but once you step inside your unit, the gracious interior spaces open out onto the lake or the golf course that surrounds the property. All of the units have screened porches that better allow you to savor the view.
All in all, the resort is much like an upscale apartment development, albeit one with hotel services like daily maid service.
Once you have settled in, you are very much at home. You can take a leisurely stroll around the lake to familiarize yourself with the location of pools, dining options, and the golf course. Everything is within easy walking distance, although many guests rent pedal-powered surreys to get around, just for the fun of it.
