Kelly says: How Discovery Cove was created
I have rated this attraction with gardeners and landscaping aficionados in mind. Others might find it less compelling, but I would encourage you not to dismiss this short tour out of hand. It is well worth taking, especially if you are a fan of Discovery Cove and this is your second visit. It will give you a much deeper appreciation of what the landscapers and grounds crew have accomplished.
The tour is simplicity itself. A member of the groundskeeping staff meets you near Guest Services and takes you on a short stroll up the walkway towards the main entrance, pausing as he goes to explain how what looks to most visitors like a jungle — with all the randomness that the term implies — is actually a cleverly designed bit of theatrical stage setting.
I was particularly impressed with the way a wall of bamboo trees was ingeniously placed so as to mask the hum of traffic from a street that lies just a few yards away. You’d never know. You’ll also learn the location of “Busch’s Window,” the favorite vista of the CEO of Anheuser-Busch. It is lovely and offers a nice challenge for the amateur photographer.
