Discovery Cove is located just off I-4, near SeaWorld, on Central Florida Parkway so the driving directions are similar. From the south (i.e. traveling east on I-4) use Exit 71 and you will find yourself pointed directly toward Discovery Cove; it’s a little more than half a mile along on your right, a short distance past the SeaWorld entrance on the left.
From the north (i.e. traveling west on I-4), get off at Exit 72, onto the Bee Line Expressway (Route 528). Take the first exit and loop around to International Drive. Turn left and proceed to Central Florida Parkway and turn right. The Discovery Cove entrance will be on your left, almost immediately after turning.
Arriving at Discovery Cove
Self-parking is free and just a short walk from the entrance, or you can drive right up to the front door and opt for valet parking for $10 (plus a tip, which will be expected). These options are clearly marked as you drive in.
Opening and Closing Times
The official opening hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. but since the first dolphin swim begins at 8:50, the doors are open earlier. It is also possible to linger until 6:00 before you are politely pointed to the exit. My personal recommendation is to arrive early, about 8:00 or 8:15, if you are participating in the dolphin swim. I provide some more advice on timing your dolphin swim later. On the other hand, if you are coming in winter, when the first dolphin swim isn’t until 10:00 a.m., you can afford to sleep in a bit. If you choose the ‘Twilight Discovery’ package, you don’t have to arrive until three in the afternoon.
