Although I don’t generally recommend coming to Orlando at the height of the summer if you can possibly avoid it, the tropical island beach resort ambiance of Discovery Cove makes it a delightful place to spend a blistering hot summer’s day. The salt water pools are kept nice and cool for the animals and make for a bracing dip. Of course, summer brings with it the increased likelihood of stormy weather. Dolphin interactions will be held in the rain, but will be cancelled if there is lightning in the area.
In late spring and early fall, the weather should be closer to ideal. Winter in Orlando can range from the pleasant to the chilly. At this time of the year, the weather may not be ideal for lounging on the beach but the water temperature may be warmer than the air temperature. On the other hand, crowds are generally smaller during the cooler months and the non-swim package is discounted in January and February (see below). Wet suits are available to ease any discomfort of in-the-water activities.
