Kelly says: Shamu and trainers at play
This is the last show
of every day in Shamu Stadium. It is somewhat shorter and different
in tone but no less exciting and enjoyable. In fact, they seem
to save the best for last.
This time around, there’s
little or no attempt to “educate” you. Instead, the
focus is on fun and the amazing feats of which these sea-going
behemoths are capable. For fun, there’s a showing of SeaWorld’s
Funniest Home Videos featuring stunts that didn’t quite go
off as planned. For amazement, there’s the wonderful spectacle
of watching the trainers romp and play with their multi-ton partners.
Also, whereas the daytime shows tend to showcase the female trainers,
the men tend to take over at night. Maybe they’re just trying
to make up for the male-bashing of the earlier shows, but whichever
gender takes the stage at night expect the highest leaps and the
biggest splashes in this version of the Shamu show.
Some things don’t
change, however. The show still ends with a barrage of water to
the lower seating area. Why tamper with success?
