SeaWorld is far more than “just” a theme park. This engrossing and entertaining tour highlights SeaWorld’s role as a major rescuer and rehabilitator of aquatic — and other — animals. What you see on this tour will depend on which animals are currently in the park’s care. You will likely get to see manatees and sea turtles that have been injured, typically by the carelessness of Man. You may see some dolphins, but they are usually here for reasons other than injury. Thanks to its reputation, SeaWorld is sometimes given injured animals that are not part of its usual stock in trade — like snakes, rabbits, and exotic birds. These, too, are on display.
The areas you visit also include an aviary where you can hand feed the birds, as well as tanks used to quarantine sea animals that are new to SeaWorld before they are introduced to the exhibits. If you’ve ever wondered how to rid sea animals of parasites, this is the place to find out. (Answer: Dip them in fresh water for a few seconds.)
