SeaWorld operates seven days a week, 365 days a year. The park opens at 9:00 a.m. and remains open until 6:00, 7:00, 8:00, 9:00, 10:00, or 11:00 p.m. — or even until 1:00 a.m. — depending on the time of year. Unlike Universal and Disney, SeaWorld does not practice soft openings (admitting guests early). During very busy periods, they will start admitting people at 8:30, but these early arrivals are held in the Entrance Plaza (or “mall”) just inside the gates, until the park proper opens at 9:00. By the time the last scheduled shows are starting (about 45 minutes to an hour prior to the posted closing time), most of the park’s other attractions have either shut down or are in the process of doing so.
