This is a tough call. Many people like to come to Orlando when the tourist traffic is thinner (see Chapter One), but SeaWorld stays open later and adds extra evening shows during the summer months and over Christmas. Some of them are terrific and it would be a shame to miss them. Even at the height of summer the crowds at SeaWorld are quite manageable compared to those you’ll encounter at, say, Disney. Crowds in January are negligible and the weather cool to moderate, perfect viewing conditions for the outdoor shows, although it can get quite chilly.
Even if you come when the parks are open late, I would recommend arriving early and planning to stay until the park closes. There are two reasons for this. Early arrivals breeze right in; as the morning wears on, the lines at the attractions lengthen. As for staying until the bitter end, all of the added summer shows are performed in the hour or two just before closing. Compensate for the long day with a leisurely lunch.
