The name is a nod to the exclusive hotel in the real Portofino, but the atmosphere is far from deluxe. This is a laid back and ultra-casual eatery whose small indoor and outdoor seating areas are supplemented by poolside service at both the Beach and Villa Pools, which seem to be where most of its food is served.
Salads ($9 to $13) include mesclun, chicken Caesar, and a fruit plate. Wraps (about $11) are served with slaw, onion rings, or French fries and include ham and cheese, and turkey. Burgers, a grouper sandwich, and hot dogs are also available ($9 to $13).
The pizza you get here ($12 to $14) is much the same as that served up in the Trattoria del Porto. But here you can eat it poolside, which, of course, makes it taste better. Italian ices and fruit smoothies round out the short menu. A kids’ meal, including an entree, fries, and a beverage, is under $10.
The Splendido also serves up some fancy cocktails (about $9) designed to produce that perfect poolside buzz. The Riviera, to cite just one example, is a creative blend of Captain Morgan’s Parrot Bay rum, mango, and coconut topped with a “strawberry meltdown.” As with all the poolside eateries at Universal Orlando, an 18% gratuity is automatically added to all bills.
