One nice thing about staying in a super-luxury hotel like Portofino Bay is that even the most modest room is going to be pretty special. And even the “average” guest is going to feel pampered by a level of service that the typical Orlando tourist never experiences.
All rooms have tall beds covered with Egyptian cotton linens and plush comforters and sleek flat-screen televisions. The bathrooms feature stone-like terra cotta tiles and a few are even tiled in marble. I especially appreciated the his-and-hers dual sinks. Also common to all rooms are such thoughtful touches as lavishly stocked mini-bars, plush bathrobes, an iron and ironing board, a hair dryer, and a safe. About nine percent of the rooms have balconies; most of them are quite small but a few are large enough to allow al fresco dining.
Standard rooms are a comfortable 400 square feet, while deluxe rooms are 600 square feet. Deluxe rooms have all the goodies found in standard rooms, plus a CD player and a DVD player. Fax machines are available on request. Their bathrooms feature a separate shower stall, as well as the dual sinks, and have windows with louvered shutters over the tub that open onto the room. You may find the added perks well worth the added cost.
Beach Pool view rooms offer great views of the often dramatic Florida sunsets. Bay view rooms are ideal for those who want to feel as if they’ve been transported to the real Portofino. However, rooms in the Villa Wing that look out onto the Villa Pool offer a serenity that’s hard to match.
Families with young children might want to consider a Kids’ Suite that includes a separate, themed kids’ bedroom that is accessible only through the parent’s room. Other multi-room options include a one-bedroom suite with parlor and a two-bedroom suite. If you really want to treat yourself, consider the Presidential Suite, with its spacious outdoor terrace.
