Guest Laundry
The Hard Rock Hotel has small guest laundry rooms on the second and fourth floors near the elevators, each with two washers and two dryers. The cost is $2.50 to wash, $2.50 to dry.
Meetings, Weddings and Banquets
There is very little meeting space at the Hard Rock. The largest space is the Avalon Ballroom, 3,000 square feet divisible into three separate sections, with a total capacity of 300 people. Two smaller rooms, the Apollo Boardroom and the Fillmore Meeting Room, are suitable for receptions or small meetings. For more information, call (407) 503-2100.
Parking
Parking is outdoors in two lots that flank the impressive main entrance. Because the Palm Restaurant draws so many locals, however, finding a good spot (or any spot!) can sometimes be a challenge. Valet parking is an option.
Velvet Sessions
On the last Thursday of each month, the Velvet Bar (see below) spills out into the lobby for Velvet Sessions, “a rock and roll cocktail party,” and a guest rock band pumps up the volume from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. or later. Past acts have included Cheap Trick, Joan Jett, Eddie Money, and Flock of Seagulls. Various liquor companies use the events to tout new brands and concoctions and presumably a good time is had by all. Tickets are $25.
The event is “by invitation only,” but it doesn’t seem too hard to get in with the in crowd. Guests of the hotels are automatically invited. Others can visit www.velvetsessions.com and filling out an invite form.
