You arrive at CityWalk just as you would arrive for a visit to
the theme parks. You park in the same parking structures and pay
the same parking fee (see Chapter One). If you arrive after 6:00 p.m., parking will be free. If you are arriving just for lunch and plan to stay for less than two hours, valet parking is free with restaurant validation (see below).
You enter CityWalk itself down a long broad avenue that passes by the Cineplex on your right (see map, page 160). That bridge you pass under is the Promenade and it leads from the upper exit of the Cineplex past CityWalk’s string of nightclubs. An escalator to the bridge is available if you just can’t wait.
Note: If you are arriving by motor launch from one of the resort hotels, you will disembark at a dock just below the NASCAR Sports Grille.
Also by the bridge and the escalator is a kiosk called Dining Reservations and CityWalk Information. Here you can peruse menus of the various CityWalk restaurants, but despite the name you can’t really make reservations for CityWalk restaurants except for Emeril’s (see below). You can make priority seating requests, however, (a process described below) and get pretty decent advice on how to plan your evening. Pick up here a brochure called Times & Info, which is published monthly. It contains a colorful if hard to read map of the enclave and an extremely helpful list of events at the various clubs. You can also pick up maps and show schedules for the two theme parks here, although they sometimes run out.
Just past the bridge, on your left, you will see the Guest Services window; come here with questions and problems. A short walk will bring you to the Plaza, CityWalk’s broad open center. From here you proceed straight ahead to Islands of Adventure, turn right to head to Universal Studios Florida, or turn left to make your way to the Promenade and the nightclubs.
