Walt Disneys
experimental prototype community of tomorrow, or Epcot
for short, never materialized into the grand self-sustaining city
of the future he had envisioned. Instead, since his death, it
has become one of the most unique entertainment parks anywhere.
Epcot is a more adult-oriented park than the Magic Kingdom and
is more than twice as large as either the MK or Disney-MGM Studios
which gives you room to spread out even on busy days.
Epcot shelters two Worlds, Future World and World
Showcase. Future World is a collection of pavilions that house
rides and attractions showcasing technology and progress. World
Showcase offers visitors a glimpse of the cultures of eleven different
countries, with samples of their characteristic foods, goods (many
for sale), and attractions. Each country is housed
in its own pavilion, and the pavilions are set along a wide promenade
surrounding a lagoon. Bridges connect the two worlds and wind
around the Odyssey Center, a large facility used for special events.
