What:
Walk-up indoor fast-food counter
Where: On the top level of the Discovery Center
Price Range: $
This fast food eatery opened on an adventuresome note by putting alligator meat on the menu, but found few takers. Now you’ll have to be content with cheeseburgers, double cheeseburgers, veggie burgers, and grilled chicken sandwiches (about $8) served with fries and a help-yourself fixin’s bar laden with lettuce, tomato, chopped onions, and other burger enhancers. Milk shakes and apple pie are about $4. Beer on tap is $5.50
You’ll find plenty of indoor, air-conditioned seating just a few steps away from the serving windows, in a spacious dining room decorated with murals depicting life in the Jurassic age.
There is also a lovely balcony with a palm-fringed view of the Inland Sea — a great place to sit on a balmy night. Clearly the seating area here was designed with corporate events and private parties in mind. For the casual tourist, it means plenty of room to spread out, even to gain a modicum of privacy and peace on a hectic day.
