New York is an international city and the shopping here reflects that. Recalling Gotham’s heyday as a largely Irish city, Rosie’s Irish Shop sells a variety of Irish imports, including pricey Aran sweaters. There are also much less expensive souvenirs, many bearing pithy Irish sayings. The truly discriminating shopper will want to pick up a ceramic mug bearing the name and coat of arms of the author of this book.
Sahara Traders is the shop you pass through after your escape from Revenge of the Mummy. Here you can pause to pick up your candid Mummy ride photos. In the shop itself, you will find the requisite Mummy t-shirts and an assortment of ghastly looking Mummy figures for the seriously disturbed child. More attractive are figurines based on ancient Egyptian originals and some nice books on Egyptology. On the other hand, you can also get a perfectly silly shiny gold and black pharaoh’s hat.
The cleverly named Aftermath forms the exit to Twister. There are plenty of Twister souvenirs here, including more mugs here than in most shops. Reflecting the film’s farm land setting, many of the items for sale are inspired by cows and pigs. Other than that, there is a wide variety of Universal Studios souvenirs.
