Schwab’s is famous in Hollywood lore as the place where a sharp-eyed talent scout discovered a sweater-clad, teenaged Lana Turner sipping soda at the counter.
At Universal Studios, Schwab’s lends its name to a small, black-and-white tiled, vaguely forties-ish ice-cream parlor featuring Ben & Jerry’s cones, milk shakes, sundaes, and ice cream floats, as well as double scoop sundaes and banana splits. Although there are a few tables, Schwab’s is primarily aimed at those looking for a quick take out snack.
In keeping with its namesake’s primary business, Schwab’s also has a small supply of over-the-counter headache and heartburn remedies, but keeps them under the counter, so ask. For those intent on spending the whole day riding Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, Schwab’s very thoughtfully provides Pepto-Bismol.
