Sports Scores - Baseball, Major League Spring Training

Many major league baseball teams find Florida’s spring weather ideal for their preseason warm-ups. The training regimen includes a number of exhibition games in March that allow the teams a chance to limber up and practice under realistic conditions. They also give fans a chance to look over their favorite team’s form and check out new players before the official season begins.

I have listed here the teams that have spring training camps within striking distance of Orlando, bearing in mind that a true fan’s definition of “striking distance” could mean 100 miles. The closest teams to Orlando are the Braves (at Disney) and the Astros (in Kissimmee). The prices listed below are for the 2006 season.

I can’t claim to have visited all of these parks, but I’ve been to a bunch. My favorites are the Astros field, for its intimacy, and the Phillies park in Clearwater, which is a model for what a modern small-scale baseball stadium should be.
