This Roman Catholic shrine had humble beginnings as a tourist ministry; today it is a large modern cathedral named by the Pope as a “house of pilgrimage.” There is some striking architecture and religious art to be seen here, especially a lovely, abstract, blue stained-glass wall in a chapel dedicated to Our Lady of Guadalupe. A small museum off the gift shop hosts rotating exhibits of religious relics and art from around the world.
