If you blanched at the cost of flying one of those Mustangs at Stallion 51 (see above), you’ll be glad to know that just a short distance away, in more modest surroundings, you can fly their baby brothers at a fraction of the cost. The North American T-6/SNJ/Harvards flown here were the premier fighter-trainers of World War II, renowned for their excellence for teaching pilots and preparing them for bigger planes (like the Mustang).

The experience is similar to that offered at Stallion 51, except that here you get to pilot from the front seat. The planes are also not quite as zippy, although that will hardly matter to most folks. The Pratt and Whitney 1340 radial engines are capable of speeds up to 240 mph, although typical cruising speed during these flights is 160 mph. The three planes in the fleet are painted with the markings of the Navy, Marines, and the Army Air Corps; you have your pick.

Warbird Adventures uses an a la carte approach to pricing. It costs $190, $320, and $560 for 15-, 30-, and 60-minute flights, with additional charges for options like aerobatics ($35, included in the 60 minute flight), a DVD of your flight ($50), and so forth. Flights are timed from takeoff to landing.

Nearby: reen Meadows Farm, Stallion 51, White One.
