Do It! - Guns: The Shooting Gallery

The Shooting Gallery

2911 West 39th Street, Orlando 32839
(407) 428-6225
Cost: $16 to $33 per hour, plus ammo and targets
Hours: Daily 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Location: From I-4 Exit 79, go south on John Young Parkway a quarter mile to Cox Plaza on your left

At The Shooting Gallery you can rent any of a wide selection of handguns or automatic machine guns to experience the thrill of slamming hot lead into the paper thin body of an imaginary enemy. Instruction is available (briefly) if you need it, but the experience here is pretty much point and shoot simplicity itself. There are six booths looking down the shooting range where paper targets in the form of human silhouettes hang from wires. There is a range rental of $8 per hour with handguns going for $8 and submachine guns for $25. Ammo and targets cost extra. To give you an idea, the typical machine gunner will go through four to five 50-round boxes of ammo at $11 a box in an hour. Targets of Osama bin Laden are $2. If business is light, they will often let you overstay your hour at no extra charge. The Shooting Gallery is located in a downscale strip mall across the street from an Orange County correctional facility and is surrounded by bail bondsmen. Are they trying to tell us something?

Nearby: Holy Land Experience, Millenia Mall.
