I don’t get it. A sign at this “attraction” (which is just a line drawn on a road in the small town of Lake Wales) talks about a legendary Indian chief, an epic battle with an alligator, and the belief of early pioneers that the place was somehow haunted. Then you are instructed to stop your car on the white line painted in the street, place it in neutral, and then marvel as the car mysteriously rolls backwards uphill!
The only problem with this scenario is that it seems to me screamingly obvious that your car is rolling downhill. Maybe I’m perceptually challenged. Or maybe the locals are hiding in the bushes laughing at tourists making fools of themselves on Spook Hill. But what the heck, it’s a local legend, it’s free, and it’s on the way to Historic Bok Sanctuary if you’re heading that way. Maybe you can explain it to me.
