Campus Crusade for Christ (CCC) has set a goal to dub Jesus, a two-hour 1979 film based on the Gospel of Luke, into 1,800 languages. At 944 and counting, they’re about halfway there. This modest but cleverly-designed 30-minute guided tour illustrates the challenges and payoffs of this ambitious project. At one point, a tour member gets to test his or her skill at dubbing the words of Peter; at another, in a simulated outdoor “theater,” guests witness the reaction to a screening of the film at a remote village in India. Along the way, picture windows provide a glimpse into the actual translating, recording and editing process. At tour’s end you can purchase the film in many different languages. Once a day, at 1:00 p.m., an extended tour encompasses other aspects of CCC.
