The casual attitude of these parks toward eating is echoed in the shopping. Don’t worry, you’ll be able to get that nifty t-shirt or the key chain with the park’s logo if you must. But the shops are fairly basic even at their most spacious. The best thing about them is the canny selection of merchandise. If you get to the park and find yourself saying, “Oh no, I forgot my . . .” chances are you’ll be able to find it in the shop.
In addition to the usual gamut of souvenirs and t-shirts are swim suits (some of them quite snazzy), sandals, sun block and tanning lotions, film, combs, brushes and other toiletries, towels, sunglasses, trashy novels — in short, everything you need for a day at the beach. Forgetful picnickers will also be pleased to know that they can find soft drinks, snack foods, and candy bars at most of the shops.
