Burgers are the big offering here, with the Better, Better Bacon Cheeseburger the top of the line. All burger platters are served with lettuce and tomato and a side of fries. There are also sandwiches, wraps, and salads, with the Buffalo chicken wrap a standout. The most elaborate offering is Joe’s Fiesta Shrimp Salad, which includes shrimp and crab tossed together in a “zesty citrus vinaigrette dressing.” They also serve the same kid’s meals found at the Surfside Cafe.
There is a separate bar, the Bayou Beach Club, in the spacious, shaded seating area under a Caribbean-style shed roof. It serves up a variety of Busch beers on tap as well as turkey legs. Nearby, flat-screen TVs are tuned to a sports network, but without sound. Although the serving lines are nothing to write home about, Mango Joe’s has a pleasantly friendly air about it and many people seem to hang out here for long periods of time (could it be that bar?). It’s my choice for dining at Adventure Island.
