Type: Musical variety show
Time: About 20 minutes
Kelly says: Best with a meal
What you see here during your visit to Busch Gardens is hard to predict. That’s because the stage at the spacious and blessedly cool Desert Grill plays host to a constantly changing roster of musical and dance variety troupes. What’s easy to predict is the quality of the shows, which in my experience have been uniformly excellent.
Typically, you will be entertained by a young, energetic, and talented cast. Some shows I’ve seen have involved intricate percussion and acrobatics. Others have featured championship ballroom dancers, strutting their stuff in a variety of dancing styles. Many times the show will spill out into the audience and they always seem to be looking for a way to get the kids involved. It’s all bright and cheerful and makes for a pleasant way to end a meal.
The meal comes courtesy of the Desert Grill restaurant, a cafeteria-style eatery to the side of the main auditorium. All seating in the theater is at long trestle tables, set perpendicular to the stage. It’s best to arrive a half an hour or so before the posted show time. That should give you time to get your meal and eat most of it before the show starts, so you can enjoy the music over dessert.
