Kelly says: Rock down memory lane
On a thrust stage with Moorish arches and purple curtains, this peppy revue pays homage to the early days of rock and roll, when simple melodies and a snappy beat swept across the nation and transformed a generation, not to mention the generations that followed.
A four-man combo, some of whom look old enough to remember the era first-hand, provide solid backing for a troupe of eight youngsters, four men, four women, who run through a repertoire that seems oh-so familiar to the mostly grey-haired crowd this show attracts. There are solos, duets, ensembles, and a number of energetic dance routines.
Despite the title, just one number is in true a capella doo-wop style, but it is “In The Still of the Night” and it is a smashing success. After the show, some of the performers mingle with the audience for photo ops.
Note: This show changes from time to time, but the theme remains the same — pop rock standards with an accent on oldies.
