What: Pleasant full-service restaurant
Where: In Crown Colony House, overlooking the Serengeti Plain
Price Range: $$ - $$$
This spacious restaurant is the only full-service, sit down restaurant in the park. It offers moderately priced “family style dinners” that consist of platters of chicken or fried fish served with a variety of side dishes.
There is also a section of “Healthy Choices” on the menu, consisting of salads with grilled chicken, fruit platters, and a vegetable platter that mixes grilled and steamed veggies to good effect. Heartier entrees include a seafood medley, broiled mahi-mahi, and chicken or shrimp alfredo over fettuccine.
The desserts are good, but I can’t recommend the wine list. Stick to beer.
Tip: No reservations are accepted, but you can request a table by the semicircular window overlooking the Plain and wait until it becomes available.
