Busch Gardens Africa - Bird Gardens: Introduction

As the name suggests, Bird Gardens houses most of the birds in the Busch Gardens zoo collection. In addition to the few larger bird displays mentioned below, the area is dotted with flamingos and other exotic water fowl, their wings obviously clipped, in beautifully landscaped open settings with ponds and streams. They are joined by a rotating group of visiting Florida species. Some of the walkways are lined with gaudy parrots in free-hanging cages. Over all, the effect is enchanting, rather like the private gardens of a rich and tasteful eccentric.

Bird Gardens is also home to Gwazi, a mammoth twin-track wooden roller coaster that greets you as you enter. Near Gwazi, you will find River Rumble, a water game, and Xtreme Zone, where you can climb a simulated cliff or bounce on a trampoline. There is an additional charge for these activities. A short stroll away and often overlooked is Eagle Canyon, a quiet corner devoted to these magnificent raptors.
